What happens to what you share.

Recovery is personal. Here, in plain words, is what I collect, why, who else is involved, and how to have it deleted. Last updated October 2026.

Who I am

Practice Flourishing is my coaching practice: John Cunningham, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I'm responsible for your information. Questions go to me directly at john@practiceflourishing.com.

This website

No accounts, no tracking, no advertising cookies, and no analytics. The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses) to run and protect the service. Fonts load from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads.

The weekly email

If you subscribe, your email address is stored with Substack, the service that sends the weekly letter. I use it only to send the letter. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and Substack’s own privacy policy covers how they handle your address.

Booking a call

Calls are booked through TidyCal, which collects your name, email, and the time you choose, plus anything you write in the booking form. I use it to hold our appointment and to prepare for it.

Payments

Payments are handled by Stripe. I see your name, email, and what you paid for. I never see or store your full card number.

Coaching

If we work together, I keep notes from our sessions and the registers you send after each practice. These may include sensitive things: your recovery, your health, your relationships. I use them only to coach you.

The Step Ten tool

Everything you write in the Step Ten Nightly Review stays in your own browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to me or anyone else. If you choose to send feedback through the tool, that message comes to me by email.

Confidentiality and its limits

What you share in coaching stays between us. The one exception: if I believe you or someone else is in immediate danger, I may contact emergency services.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information I hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. Write to john@practiceflourishing.com and I'll answer within 30 days. I follow Canada's privacy law (PIPEDA), and I honour the same requests from clients anywhere in the world.

If you're in crisis

Coaching isn't emergency care. In Canada or the United States, call or text 988. In the UK, call Samaritans at 116 123. Anywhere else, contact your local emergency number.
